LIGHT FOR LIFE DEVOTIONAL

SCRIPTURE:

2 Kings 4:1-7

[1]One day the wife of one of the seminary students came to Elisha to tell him of her husband’s death. He was a man who had loved God, she said. But he had owed some money when he died, and now the creditor was demanding it back. If she didn’t pay, he said he would take her two sons as his slaves.

[2]“What shall I do?” Elisha asked. “How much food do you have in the house?”

“Nothing at all, except a jar of olive oil,” she replied.

[3]“Then borrow many pots and pans from your friends and neighbors!” he instructed.

[4]“Go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Then pour olive oil from your jar into the pots and pans, setting them aside as they are filled!”

[5]So she did. Her sons brought the pots and pans to her, and she filled one after another!

[6]Soon every container was full to the brim!

“Bring me another jar,” she said to her sons.

“There aren’t any more!” they told her. And then the oil stopped flowing!

[7]When she told the prophet what had happened, he said to her, “Go and sell the oil and pay your debt, and there will be enough money left for you and your sons to live on!”

THE REALITY OF SUPERNATURAL SUPPLIES

Everything you need to live in abundance is strategically placed some where around you.

Good morning Lighthouse Family, today God will show you that he has taken over your welfare.

Debts and bills can be a huge stone in the neck, whether they come as school fees, house rent, light, water, or security bills, dues for community academic or social, loans (which I don't subscribe to) and so on. The state you are with these obligations influences a lot about your life and even your health. This becomes even more of an issue when your income doesn't match with the emerging bills.

Why will a prophet borrow so much and his sons become collateral?

Historian, Josephus, (Ant. IX. 4.2); says the prophet in this story was Obadiah; that he had to borrow to feed a group of prophets he was holding from Jezebel. Hmm... if that is the case, there alot to quiz his actions which he ended up leaving his family to bear the brunt of the consequences.

You must understand that God will never give you a load he has not equipped you to handle. He never gives a vision without a provision; you don't have to get into debt to do anything. What you need to met your need is somewhere in your field. Look around you it's there in plane sight.

Ishmael and his mum needed water, the well was right beside them, Moses needed a tool for miracle; the rod was in his hand, Samson needed a weapon to fight; the jaw bone of an ass was beside him, Jesus needed to feed over fifteen thousand people; the lad's five loaves and two fishes was available. What you need to meet your need is always in your field.

I have been in that spot where I felt borrowing was the only why out, the spot were you seem backed up in a corner, no food in the house, no money in the account for a wedding or school fees or house rent, no friend to help you out; that can be a very lonely place. A sick mum or family member and it seems there's nothing you can do, your mates have all moved forward and you are left behind...hmm I've been there. Your feed is always in your field. Look around you carefully, you will see he has put something there to help you.

Lord open my eyes to see the provisions you have put around me in Jesus name.
