Scripture
1 Kings 2:1-10
[1]As the time of King David’s death approached, he gave this charge to his son Solomon:
[2]“I am going where every man on earth must some day go. I am counting on you to be a strong and worthy successor.
[3]Obey the laws of God and follow all his ways; keep each of his commands written in the law of Moses so that you will prosper in everything you do, wherever you turn.
[4]If you do this, then the Lord will fulfill the promise he gave me, that if my children and their descendants watch their step and are faithful to God, one of them shall always be the king of Israel—my dynasty will never end.
[5]“Now listen to my instructions. You know that Joab murdered my two generals, Abner and Amasa. He pretended that it was an act of war, but it was done in a time of peace.
[6]You are a wise man and will know what to do—don’t let him die in peace.
[7]But be kind to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite. Make them permanent guests of the king, for they took care of me when I fled from your brother Absalom.
[8]And do you remember Shimei, the son of Gera the Benjaminite from Bahurim? He cursed me with a terrible curse as I was going to Mahanaim; but when he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, I promised I wouldn’t kill him.
[9]But that promise doesn’t bind you! You are a wise man, and you will know how to arrange a bloody death for him.”
[10]Then David died and was buried in Jerusalem.
STORIES FROM THE KINGS: DAVID'S CHARGE
You are equipped with the necessary wisdom to deal with the challenges of your time.
Good morning lighthouse family, the anointing of the Holy Spirit on your life will speak for and announce you today in Jesus name.
David's charge was unique. He called to account people who had been good and bad to him. He declared death sentence on some offenders, some he had made a pact not to touch and others circumstances made it inappropriate to deal with them.
In his opening statements, he drops three maxims we must not miss:
1 Death is inevitable and you must be sure of where you are going (for you the believer that is heaven)
2. Destiny is secured when you operate by laws/principles/instructions
3. Dynasty is a divine idea and to God it implies children learning the great values their parents lived with.
One striking statement David repeated to Solomon in verses 6 and 9 was "you are a wise man", you will know what to do... Every generation comes hardwired with the template to handle the battle before them. You must learn to trust what God has put in you.
As a believer you have been given
1. Instincts: The ability to sense the right path to take in any situation even if you don't have all the information needed. Your instincts are hardly ever wrong.
2. Intelligence: The ability to think your way out of any situation no matter how though. Your mind is a natural problem solving kit equipped to find a way out always.
3. Inspiration: The ability to access Supernatural wisdom, ideas and direction. You can hear God's voice clearly as a believer because God's spirit lives in you.
David's charge therefore was simple: you are equipped to handle your battle. Don't complain, murmur or grumble (if you grumble you fumble), never see yourself as unfortunate or disadvantaged because of where you are in life or what has happened to you. You were designed to overcome.
Please let me stretch this a little. I have been at that ugly point in life. I was born with a silver spoon but never used it. I suffered rejection as a child, grew up with a lot of self esteem issues because I had no identity since there was no father figure, I hardly had much to eat for a long time, I had to sponsor myself all through, I started everything I am doing today from the very scratch.
Life will not be fair to you rather it will deliver to you what you demand. You have got what it takes, go and win!
Declaration
I AM EQUIPPED TO WIN ALWAYS.
You are Supernatural
I love you.
